Let It Rain ©1996 James A. Graves, Jr.
He was standin' in the doorway watchin' as she slowly drove away, Thinkin' on the past and how we ended up like this today. As he watched their children wave good-bye, doin' his best to hide the pain, He noticed that the sky was turnin' grey and it started to rain.
There ain't nothin' like the rain to wash away the pain, And after a rain the world seems new again - so let it rain.
She sat there by his bed and they talked about the past, We can never hold back time but the memories will always last. She looked with love into his eyes, doin' her best to hide the pain, And outside the sky was turnin' grey and it started to rain.
There ain't nothin' like the rain to wash away the pain, And after a rain the world seems new again - so let it rain.
The young farmer looked across the fields, And wondered what his dad would say. The drought was bad and he knew, If he failed they'd take it all away. He raised his face up to the sky, Doin' his best not to cry, He prayed, and this is what he prayed…
There are so many other things that I would like to do and see, But after five generations Lord, the future of this farm is left to me, Please Lord don't let me fail 'cause I would rather burn in Hell, Than lose this farm and put my family through the pain. That night it rained.
There ain't nothin' like the rain to wash away the pain, And after a rain the world seems new again, so let it rain. There ain't nothin' like the rain to wash away the pain, And after a rain the world seems new again, so let it rain, Let it rain, let it rain, let it rain, come on and let it rain.
